Blue Hill Public Library invites the public to the second in a weekly series of four films on contemporary Russia on Monday, July 29th at 6:30 PM. The film will be Tycoon, directed by Pavel Loungine. The series is hosted by Professor of Russian literature and cinema, Tony Anemone.

Tycoon is a lightly fictionalized view of the rise and fall of Boris Berezovsky, one of the first Russian businessmen who succeeded in building a commercial empire out of the chaos of the 1990s.

This film series – a mix of fiction, literary adaptation, and documentary – intends to explore contemporary Russia as represented in contemporary movies by four leading filmmakers. Each session will include a brief introduction, and then a discussion afterward.

Tony Anemone, Professor of Russian Literature and Cinema at The New School in New York City since 2006, previously taught at Colby College and The College of William and Mary. He and his wife Vivian Pyle, a potter, summer in Surry. All films are shown free of charge, and everyone is welcome. For more information, call the library at 374-5515.
