All ages are invited to “Crafternoons” at the Blue Hill Public Library, on Saturday October 19th, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM for “A Call to Yarns,” to knit and crochet hats, scarves or mittens for immigrant children in need. These handmade creations will be donated to the Maine Access Immigrant Network to distribute to children and babies who have come to Maine as asylum-seekers from the Congo, Angola and many other countries. There will be volunteers available to assist kids with their projects. Anyone who knits or crochets and is interested in contributing is welcome to attend.

Participants can take their projects home to finish and bring them back to the library by Friday November 22, so that the library can mail them off in time for winter. All materials will be provided by the library (patterns, knitting needles, yarn, etc.), but participants are welcome to bring any materials that they would like to use or contribute.

There is a different craft project each month at Crafternoons, which is on the last Saturday of the month, and no experience is needed. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by a caregiver at least 12 years of age. For more information, call Claire at the library at 374-5515.
