How Climate Change Can Be a Bipartisan Issue

Peter Garrett of Citizens’ Climate Lobby will give a presentation about climate change and how fighting it can be a bipartisan issue, at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday May 22nd at 6:30 PM.

Peter Garrett is an earth scientist by training, and a retired hydrogeologist by profession. He is the coordinator of Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) volunteers in Maine. Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.

According to CCL, the Carbon Fee & Dividend policy would be a national, revenue-neutral carbon fee-and-dividend system that would place a predictable, steadily rising price on carbon, with net proceeds dispensed to households as a monthly energy dividend. This plan has been incorporated into bipartisan legislation and, if enacted, is predicted to reduce America’s emissions by at least 40% in 12 years.

This event is sponsored by the library, there is no change and everyone is welcome. For more information call the library at 374-5515.
