Blue Hill Public Library
5 Parker Point Rd, Blue Hill, ME, 04614

The Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Residency program presents “Kind of Bleu – Inspired by Jazz” at the Blue Hill Public Library on Wednesday, May 29 at 4:00 PM. The audience will journey from America to France and back again, while examining the way jazz has shaped other musical genres, like classical, and use it as inspiration to create new music together.

Returning Kneisel Hall teaching artists Clara Lyon, violin, and Hannah Collins, cello, will be joined by two world-renowned composers and jazz/classical performers: Thomas Bergeron, trumpet, and Samuel Carl Adams, piano. This creative quartet will perform music by the great French composer Maurice Ravel and explore how Ravel was inspired by Blues and Jazz and vice versa! Kids in the audience can help make brand new versions of favorite songs to show how we can be inspired by one type of music while creating another type.

These concerts are part of the semi-annual “Kneisel Hall Blue Hill-Together in Music” residency, a long-term outreach initiative dedicated to sparking a creative dialogue between Kneisel Hall musicians and members of the Blue Hill community. For more information contact the library at 374-5515.
