The “Live in HD” high-definition simulcast series of productions and hi def encore screenings from The New York Metropolitan Opera continues its 2018-2019 season on Saturday March 2nd at 12:00 pm on the Coastal Eye Care Screen with one of Wagner’s best known works “Die Walkure.” In what is expected to be a Wagnerian event for the ages, soprano Christine Goerke plays Brünnhilde, Wotan’s willful warrior daughter, who loses her immortality in opera’s most famous act of filial defiance. Tenor Stuart Skelton and soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek play the incestuous twins Siegmund and Sieglinde. Greer Grimsley sings Wotan. Philippe Jordan conducts. Cast: Philippe Jordan; Christine Goerke (Brünnhilde), Eva-Maria Westbroek (Sieglinde), Jamie Barton (Fricka), Stuart Skelton (Siegmund), Greer Grimsley (Wotan), Günther Groissböck (Hunding) “Die Walkure” runs 4 hrs and 55 min with 2 intermissions.
