The Blue Hill Public Library will host a panel discussion led by mystery author Chris Knopf on Wednesday, July 24th at 7:00 PM, and featuring Maine-based mystery authors Bruce Coffin, Kate Flora, and Katherine Hall Page. The panel will be discussing their work and writing processes. Chris Knopf will lead the discussion and take questions from the audience.
Chris Knopf has published 17 mystery/thriller novels, with the latest, Deep Dive, just released in June. His books have received starred reviews in Publishers Weekly, Booklist, Kirkus and Library Journal. He has received the 2008 Benjamin Franklin Award for Best Mystery a Boston Globe Best Crime Novel in 2012, and the 2013 Nero Award.
Kate Flora’s fascination with people’s criminal tendencies began when she worked in the Maine attorney general’s office. She is the author of twenty books and many short stories, and has been a finalist for the Edgar, Agatha, Anthony, and Derringer awards. She won the Public Safety Writers Association award for nonfiction and twice won the Maine Literary Award for crime fiction.
Bruce Robert Coffin is the bestselling author of the Detective Byron mystery series. A former detective sergeant with more than 27 years in law enforcement, he supervised homicide and violent crime investigations for Maine’s largest city. His most recent novel, Beyond the Truth, was nominated for an Agatha Award for Best Contemporary Novel and is a finalist for the Maine Literary Award for Best Crime Fiction. His short fiction appears in several anthologies, including Best American Mystery Stories 2016.
Katherine Hall Page is the author of twenty-five Faith Fairchild mysteries, featuring the amateur sleuth and caterer. Five of the books, including the latest, The Body in the Wake, are set on an island in Penobscot Bay. The recipient of Malice Domestic’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Page has received Agathas for best first mystery, best novel, and best short story.
