Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Library, award-winning short story writer, poet, and playwright Bruce Pratt will lead a workshop, “Creating Your Novel in 90 Minutes,” at the Blue Hill Public Library on Saturday, January 25th at 2:00 PM. Participants will complete two projects that demonstrate how to infuse energy into a narrative by creating compelling characters whose actions, thoughts, speech and reactions drive the novel’s narrative arc. Bruce Pratt will also address why so many novelists hit a wall at about page 100 and will discuss strategies for getting back on track.
Bruce Pratt is the author of the novel The Serpents of Blissfull, the poetry collection Boreal, The Trash Detail: Stories, and the poetry chapbook Forms and Shades. His fiction, poetry, drama, and essays have appeared in more than forty magazines, reviews, and journals across the United States, and in Canada, Ireland, and Wales. He is the editor of American Fiction.
This event is sponsored by the library. It is free of charge and all are welcome, but space is limited to 12 participants, so advance registration is required. For more information, call the library at 374-5515.
